Thanks for joining me for the Smallest Blessings Thursday! Are you noticing how easy it is becoming to spot the small blessings now that you know they're out there and are looking for them? This is the whole point of this meme- recognizing that we are given blessings, big and small, every single day of our lives, and giving thanks and praise to the Lord for them.
If you want to participate this week, just hop on over here to the see the rules. They're super easy and we all know each one of us has at least one small blessing to share!
This week, my smallest blessing is the fact that my Southern Hubby comes home to me each night! He doesn't want to go to a bar after work to drown his sorrows; he doesn't want to go gambling, or another woman's house, or anywhere else. He wants to come home! Praise God that I have a wonderful husband who wants to take off his shoes at our house each night. I know there are some women out there who don't get this luxury. And for that, I'm so thankful.
Update: Try as I might, I did not want to post about the tea parties that have been happening around the country. I told myself that I would stay out of posting about politics after the election but I can't keep my big mouth shut about this one because it angers me so much and I feel the great need to defend our poor President Obama.
The new president is only cleaning up after the last 8 years of rotten leadership and spending we have been forced to go through. I don't even want to know how much this horrible and stupid war is costing us. We are trillions of dollars in debt because of Mr. Bush, and this with Clinton actually leaving us a surplus when he left! (http://tiny.cc/7swJe) I truly hope that Obama does not get persecuted because he cannot clean up the economy in 4 short years when it took Bush double that to get us into it!
Ok, got it out of my system. And whether you believe it or not, I do consider myself conservative on many issues, lol! Agree or disagree, we all have the right to freedom of speech, and I expect that my very conservative readers will exercise that right in the comments section today! ;) So, have at it gals!

I agree with you on some parts. Leadership was not Pres. Bush's strong suit. And I think that all the protesting or whatever was useless. However I don't think that Obama can fix the problem with his policies either. I do not claim to be republican or democrate.
As a devout news"junkie", I think that the whole idea behind the tea party was that it didn't matter whether you were Republican or Democrat, it was about the government stepping over their boundaries over and over and over again for the last 10 years or so. People have I think just gotten fed up with big government trying to decide how everyone should live their life.
There are things that are not in school systems today that I can remember doing as routine... the Pledge of Allegiance, a Christmas Play, etc. etc. These things have been removed from our society because they might offend someone... I have to wonder if the government thought about all of the millions of people that they offended by taking these things away.
I guess my point is that in the country of the free, I don't feel very free anymore. I had a woman give me dirty looks the other day while I was eating my lunch because I prayed before hand. Sorry to get off on a tangent, but I'm pretty passionate about politics. I am a middle of the road girl, married to an extreme conservative, so we have lots of fun debates over things.
Don't really see eye to eye with you on this one, but I really like your blog a lot! I believe God is the one that will sort out all of the details, no way any politician ever could.
He alone knows the hearts of men, scary and comforting~all at the same time!!!
I love your blessing.

Hey girls, thanks so much for keeping the comments civilized and nice. ;) I actually agree with you on many fronts, and you may not believe this, but I consider myself a conservative on many issues! lol. And Jennifer, I can't believe someone would do that to you!! How unfair is that?! We pray all the time before meal, hand holding and everything! And I don't think I've ever gotten a look. Come to think about, don't think I've ever looked around afterwards. Who cares what they think!? Just go right on praying!!
Amen, Melissa- GOD is in charge of it all and He isn't Republican or Democrat! ;)
Your comments on Rhoda's blog are what drove me to yours. :) Nice to "meet" you. Now, excuse me while I look around your blog.
OH, my, I need more time to catch up on reading your posts!...soon I hope...:) ((hugs))
I saw your comment on Rhoda's blog and stopped by because I completely agree with you!! I just don't understand the anger directed toward Obama when he is trying to save our economy. Where were the protesters when Bush and Wallstreet were spending all of our country's money?
Thanks for speaking up!

I *really* love your photograph or the hubby shoes at the bottom of the stairs. It is awesome!
What I got out of the tea parties is that they were protesting the *future* spending plans.
I'm really against big government, which I think has been a problem for at least 40 years now - meaning we can blames both the Dems and the Reps.
Just my 2 cents :)
That is something to be truly thankful for. Thank you for hosting The Small Blessings Thursday, I'm blessed to be apart of it.
We have so much to be thankful for each and everyday.
Have a wonderful day!
Melly:)
sweetie I completely agree about the tea party situation. they had one in my lil dinky town.. it's amazing how quick people are ready to blame someone for something he hasn't even had a chance to fix yet. makes me sad.
AND YOUR SMALLEST BLESSING IS GREAT I LOVE IT!
I completely agree with your feelings about Obama. I wished more would just let him and give him a chance. I'm just thankful he was willing to step into all this mess.
I love your pic of the shoes by the stairs and I love what you wrote. I agree we are blessed that our husbands come home to us every night.
Sorry I hit the wrong button....here is what I was saying
I have enjoyed the blog as others have too, and all I can say is I agree to disagree.. My stance against Obama is because of the things I hold dear that he does not...My Christian Faith, The Sanctity of Life, Marriage of man and woman, my husbands career as a soldier and the biblical work ethics as mandated in the Bible. I undertand he has only been in office for a short time but already look at what he has approved and not approved....
Just as I would never wear the tee that said "Keep out the Bushes" I'd never wear a tee saying "just anonther bum looking for change". I believe that the President has MY Christian values(the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost), and he believes in the sanctitiy of marriage between a man and a woman(HE married one), and the soldiers I've met at FT. Campbell Kentucky, home of the 101st Airborne division, seem to like him and his policies well enough. I will miss Rhoda's blog but glad to have found you.
Jennifer, nicely put! I think that everyone should respect everyone's beliefs.
Amen, it is a blessing to have a husband who believes in the sanctity of marriage.
We should pray for our president, especially that the Lord will turn his heart toward understanding the preciousness of life.
